Steve Dahlby brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Coastal Golf Academy Teaching Staff.  Steve currently is the Teaching Professional at the historic Phoenix Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona.  Steve has been a PGA Tour Teaching Professional since 2005, helping a number of Touring Professionals with their games during that time.  To date, Steve's current or former players have won over 25 events on the major worldwide tours.  Steve's current players include 2-time PGA Tour winner Troy Merritt and 4-time PGA Tour winner Sean O'hair.  Steve also works with former Australian Open and German Open winner Steve Allan.  Steve also worked with 4-time PGA Tour winner Martin Laird and 2013 Solheim Cup Captain Carin Koch among others.

About Coach Steve Dahlby

Steve Dahlby brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Coastal Golf Academy.  Steve is currently the PGA Teaching Professional at both the historic Phoenix Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona and the renowned Mesa Country Club in Mesa, Arizona.  

Steve has been a PGA Tour Teaching Professional since 2005, helping a number of Touring Professionals with their games during that time.  To date, Steve's current or former players have won 40 times on the major worldwide tours.  Steve's current players include 2-time PGA Tour winner Troy Merritt, 4-time PGA Tour winner and 2005 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Sean O'hair, 2-time PGA Tour winner Kyle Stanley and Champions Tour member Steve Allan, who won 3 events in 2025 to add to his Australian and German Open victories.  Steve also worked with 2013 Solheim Cup Captain Carin Koch and 4-time PGA Tour winner Martin Laird among others.  

Steve currently works with and has coached a number of junior/high school golfers, college players and aspiring professionals.  Steve has an impressive list of high school players who have gone on to play at all levels of college golf.  He has coached 2 American Junior Golf Association Players of the Year, a Sports Illustrated National High School Player of the Year, an Arizona High School Player of the Year and a winner of the IMG Junior World Championship.  All these players went on to play at major Division 1 golf programs.  

A Quarter Century Member of the PGA of America, Steve began his career as a Senior Instructor of the Golf Digest Schools in 1992, where he was trained by perennial Top 100 Instructors Mike LaBauve and Tim Mahoney.  He was Troon North Golf Club's first Director of Instruction, a position he held for 11 years.  He also served as the Director of Instruction at Forest Highlands in Flagstaff, Arizona and The Golf Club Scottsdale, in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Steve has been the PGA Teaching Professional at Phoenix Country Club for the past 13 years while also serving the membership at Mesa Country Club in the same capacity the past 2 years.  

At Coastal Golf Academy, Steve serves as the Senior Teaching Professional, monitoring all day-to-day instruction activity at the Mayfaire Town Center location in Wilmington, NC. Steve provides advice to potential professional, elite amateur and aspiring junior players while also helping recreational golfers of all levels.  Steve also has valuable experience in placing high school golfers in college programs and acts as the lead in the recruiting service that is part of the menu of items available to junior golfers.  He is also involved with business development and growth of Coastal Golf Academy.

As a player, Steve has competed at all levels of the game.  Growing up in the state of Wisconsin, he won countless tournaments as a junior and high school player which led him to play college golf at Division 1 Northern Illinois University and then NAIA Division 1 University of Wisconsin-Stout.  At Wisconsin-Stout, Steve helped the team capture back-to-back conference and NAIA District 14 Championships which qualified the team for its first ever national tournament appearances.  In his two years at Wisconsin-Stout, Steve won 8 individual titles.  After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, Steve played professionally for 2 years before beginning his coaching career.  Steve was inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Stout Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999 and was selected as a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Time Men's Golf Team in 2012.

Steve currently lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Amy and sons Andrew and Matthew.   He travels to Wilmington monthly where he is available for in person coaching.  When away from Wilmington, Steve is available for remote instruction, guidance or counsel.
